Take control of your Business Central database storage

As your business grows, so does your data. Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central gives you flexibility and capacity to manage your data efficiently but it’s important to understand your storage limits and options to avoid surprises.

At TVT, we help clients get the most from their Business Central environments. Here’s what you need to know about database storage, and how to stay ahead of the curve.

How much database storage do you get with Business Central?

Every Business Central SaaS customer receives 80 GB of database storage as standard. This covers all your environments: production, sandbox, UAT, and support. On top of this, you get extra storage based on your licence type:

  • Dynamics 365 Business Central Database Capacity (1 GB or 100 GB)
  • Database Capacity Overage (1 GB, available after purchasing a 100 GB add-on)
  • Additional Environment Add-on

Practical ways to reduce storage usage

Not ready to buy more storage? Here are some practical steps you can take:

  • Delete unused companies: Remove test or demo companies you no longer need.
  • Delete old documents: Clear out historical data, such as invoiced purchase orders, that are no longer required.
  • Set up retention policies: Automate the deletion of outdated log entries and archived records.
  • Compress tables: Regularly compressing tables saves space and improves performance.
