Business Central pricing frequently asked questions

Do we need a Business Central Essentials or Premium licence? Most organisations choose the Essentials licence. It covers everything from finance and purchasing to inventory and reporting.

Premium is best for businesses that also need tools for manufacturing or service management. For clearer direction on what you need, book a call with one of our Business Central experts.
What costs are not included in the Business Central licence fee? Your monthly licence covers access to Business Central only. ERP migration costs, like implementation, data migration, training, and any solution tailoring, are separate.

What does “named user licence” mean, and how does it affect staffing changes? Each licence is tied to a specific individual, that’s what “named user” means. If someone leaves or changes their role, you can reassign their licence to another employee at no extra charge. But you just can’t share one licence between multiple people at the same time.
How much do customisations and extensions cost? It depends on what you need. Many businesses use Power Apps or pre-built extensions from Microsoft AppSource, which are low-cost or subscription-based.

When do Business Central price increases take effect, and how will they impact us? Microsoft reviews Business Central pricing once a year, usually in October. Any changes are announced in advance and apply at the start of your next licence term.
