The challenge
As Supermassive Games (SMG) expanded, so did the complexity of their business structure. The company operated through multiple ‘studios,’ each functioning as an internal company, with both direct and indirect costs allocated at the individual project level. This structure made it essential to track project costs and resource allocation with precision to ensure financial success.
Previously, SMG relied on disparate systems: QuickBooks for finance and accounting, while project cost management and resource assignments were handled by various people using internally developed systems. to manage their finances and project cost management /resource assignment processes.
A rapid growth in project volume and complexity exposed the limitations of these disparate systems. Manual processes were not only inefficient but also prone to errors, and the lack of integration between finance and project management made it difficult to maintain accurate, up-to-date information.
The solution
SMG recognised that moving to an ERP system would give them the unified platform necessary to support their evolving needs. After evaluating a range of partners, they selected Business Central as their solution and TVT (formerly TVision) as their implementation partner. The decision was driven by Business Central’s ability to meet both finance and project resourcing requirements, as well as TVT’s consultancy expertise and commitment to understanding the business’s unique needs.
- Phase 1: Standard implementation of Business Central’s Finance Module – with the addition of Jet Reports and two TVT add-ons, Divisional Dimensions and GL import.
- Phase 2: Customised Project Assignment Module – TVT customised Business Central’s Project Module to accommodate SMG’s specific resource allocation and project set-up requirements.
