AI proof of concept

Test, validate and refine AI-powered solutions for Business Central before committing to full implementation.
TVT AI Proof of Concept

The challenge

You have an idea for how AI (be it a Copilot that assists your team or an agent that works autonomously), could improve a process in your Business Central environment - automating data entry, streamlining reconciliation, surfacing insights from your ERP data. The concept makes sense, but critical questions remain:

Will it actually work with our Business Central setup?

  • What would it look like in practice?
  • Is the efficiency gain worth the investment?
  • How do we move from concept to production-ready solution?

At TVT (Together Vision Technology), we help Business Central users answer these questions through a clear, staged process. Start with a fixed-price proof of concept where you will get to see your idea working, then if it proves valuable move to a "Fit and Finish" phase that delivers a production-ready solution.

Two-phase approach

1. Proof of concept (£2,500)

Validate your idea through a structured six-step process that produces a working prototype and clear implementation proposal.

2. Fit and finish

Turn the validated concept into a business-ready solution that meets production standards.

Phase 1: Proof of concept

What's included:

  • Discovery session define scope and success criteria
  • Working prototype built in your Business Central environment
  • Two rounds of testing and refinement based on your feedback
  • Comprehensive implementation proposal with cost and timeline estimates

Discovery

We meet to understand the specific process or challenge you want to address. This conversation establishes the problem, what success looks like, scope boundaries, and technical considerations within your Business Central environment.

Initial prototype

We build a working Proof of Concept of your AI solution inside your Business Central environment, using your actual data structures and process flows. This is a Proof of Concept for evaluation purposes. Something tangible enough to assess viability and gather meaningful feedback, but will have some process gaps.

Evaluation and feedback

You and your team test the prototype against real scenarios. Does it address the problem? How does it perform with actual data? What needs adjustment? Honest assessment at this stage is critical.

Refined prototype

Based on your feedback, we develop a second version that addresses the issues identified in testing. This iteration provides a more accurate picture of how the solution would operate day-to-day.

Final review

You evaluate the refined prototype and identify any additional considerations for a production version. By this point, you should understand whether the AI solution delivers meaningful value and how it would integrate with existing processes.

Implementation proposal

We provide a proposal outlining scope for production-ready development, time and cost estimates, technical requirements, and implementation approach. You're not obligated to proceed, but if you choose to, you'll have a clear roadmap and accurate cost expectations. If you are happy with our suggestions, we move to the next phase.

Production ready development

Phase 2: Fit and finish

If the proof of concept demonstrates clear value, the Fit and Finish phase transforms the prototype into a business-ready solution.

What changes from prototype to production:

Code quality and architecture

Production-standard code practices, proper error handling and logging, optimised performance, and security best practices specific to Business Central.

Integration and testing

Full integration with your BC environment and workflows, comprehensive testing across scenarios, user acceptance testing, and performance validation.

Documentation and training

Technical documentation for maintenance, user guides and training materials, process documentation, and handover to your IT team if required.

Deployment and support

Staged deployment to minimise risk, post-deployment monitoring, initial support period, and knowledge transfer to your team.

Timeline and cost

For the Fit and Finish phase are defined in the implementation proposal delivered at the end of the proof of concept.

What is possible with AI in Microsoft Dynamics Business Central

The sort of topics that we feel Copilots or Agents could help with are: reduce re-keying of data, decision making, analysis of complex data and automation of tasks.

Examples of recent proof of concepts:

Document processing Automatically extracting data from invoices, purchase orders, or other documents and populating BC fields.
Data reconciliation Comparing records across systems, identifying discrepancies, and flagging items for review.
Predictive analysis Analysing patterns in BC data to forecast inventory needs, cash flow, or customer behaviour.
Natural language interfaces Enabling users to query BC data using plain language rather than building reports.
Process automation Deploying agents to automate routine decisions and workflows based on defined business rules.
Data entry assistance Reducing manual input through intelligent suggestions or automated field population.

Why this approach works

Test - Yel -576px
Test your idea before committing to production development. Invest in a full build after confirming the concept delivers value.
Cost - Grn -576px
Realistic cost estimates. The Fit & Finish proposal reflects actual development experience, not theoretical estimates.
Evidence - Grn -576px
Evidence based decisions - issues identified during the proof of concept can be addressed in the Fit & Finish phase, far less costly than discovering problems after deployment.

Risk - Grn - 576px
Manage risk effectively! Senior leaders and stakeholders evaluate a working prototype, not theoretical concepts.

Who this is for

This approach works well if you:

  • Use Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central

  • Have identified a specific process where AI could reduce manual effort
  • Need to validate feasibility before proposing a larger initative
  • Want concrete evidence to support investment decisions
  • Prefer testing ideas in a controlled, low-risk environment

Our approach

We're Business Central specialists, not general-purpose AI consultants. This focus matters because we understand BC's architecture, limitations, and integration points. We build prototypes that work with your actual BC environment and provide realistic implementation estimates based on development experience.

We work collaboratively. You understand your business processes; we understand the technical possibilities. The best solutions emerge when both perspectives inform development.

Frequently asked questions

What's the difference between the prototype and the final solution?  The prototype demonstrates viability and gathers feedback. The Fit and Finish phase rebuilds it to production standards proper code quality, comprehensive testing, security, documentation, and support.
Can we skip the Proof of Concept and go straight to production? Not recommended. The PoC validates whether the idea works and provides the foundation for accurate cost estimates. Skipping it increases risk significantly.
What if the prototype reveals the idea won't work? That's a valuable outcome, better to learn this during a £2,500 PoC than halfway through a full development project. And if the conclusion is that the idea isn’t viable, we’ll refund 50% of the fee.
Do you work with companies that aren't current TVT customers? Yes. This service is available to both existing customers and organisations exploring working with us for the first time.
What kind of support is included after deployment? The Fit and Finish phase includes an initial support period. Ongoing support arrangements are discussed during the implementation proposal phase.
