Excel Reporting Changes in Business Central

Live webinar | Wednesday 23 September | 10:00am (BST)
Live webinar

One of your finance reports has changed

If you, or someone in your finance team, has recently tried to run Aged Accounts Receivable and found it missing or unfamiliar, you are not alone. Microsoft has removed eight familiar Excel reports from Business Central and replaced them with new versions built on customisable Excel layouts.

The old reports were hidden in the 2025 release wave 1 and removed entirely in the 2026 release wave 1. That is why many teams are only feeling the impact now, especially during month end.

In this session, Paul Cartwright, our Chief Technical Officer, and Ian Robinson, Senior Support Consultant, will explain what has changed, how to get the affected reports working again, and what the new Excel layouts allow you to do.

Which reports are affected

Eight reports from the Business Manager and Accountant Role Centres have been replaced.

If your month end touches any of these, the session is relevant to you.

  • Balance Sheet
  • Income Statement
  • Statement of Cash Flow
  • Statement of Retained Earnings
  • Sales Taxes Collected, shown as VAT Collected
  • Customer Statements
  • Aged Accounts Payable
  • Aged Accounts Receivable

Aged Accounts Receivable is generating most of the questions, so we will spend the most time on it. The same principles apply across all eight reports.

What we'll cover

We will start with the immediate issue: which reports have gone, what has replaced them, and what to do if the new version does not give your team what the old one did.

We will then explain how the new Excel layouts work, including where the layout sits, how it pulls data from Business Central, and what to watch for when reports are refreshed or systems are updated.

Because the layouts are ordinary Excel, teams with reasonable Excel skills can now adapt reports in ways that previously needed a developer or separate reporting tool.

Who should attend?

This session is for finance users who run or rely on these reports, especially for ageing, statements or period-end reporting. You do not need to be an Excel expert, although the later examples will be most useful if you regularly work with Excel.
