The challenge
Prior to upgrading to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central, Lodge Brothers used an ageing version of Microsoft Dynamics NAV. The system was no longer user‑friendly and was approaching the end of Microsoft support.
Alongside NAV, the business relied on several other systems that were not integrated. This resulted in a high volume of manual processes and an increased risk of human error.
While the system continued to support day‑to‑day operations, it no longer met the organisation’s evolving IT and compliance requirements.
Lodge Brothers were looking for an opportunity to improve reporting and management information, particularly by taking advantage of newer software solutions capable of aggregating financial and CRM data.
With compliance risks increasing and manual processes limiting efficiency and insight, an upgrade became essential.
The solution
To address these challenges, Lodge Brothers partnered with their long‑standing support partner, TVT, to upgrade from Microsoft Dynamics NAV to Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central in 2025.
The move to a cloud‑based platform enabled the business to remain within the Microsoft ecosystem while benefiting from automatic updates, improved compliance, and a more modern user experience.
The upgrade project was carefully planned and well communicated, supported by TVT team that already had in‑depth knowledge of Lodge Brothers’ systems from previous upgrades. This continuity proved invaluable, ensuring a smooth transition that included the successful migration of ten years’ worth of historical data.
Alongside the core upgrade, TVT also supported the import of data from other systems and an upgrade of their Continia Document Capture capabilities. This move helped Lodge Brothers reduce manual effort, improve efficiency and strengthen approval processes across their finance function.
The results
Group VAT reporting is now simpler and far less manual.
